Rana Naidu Season 2 Web Series Review
The narrative crafted by Karan Anshuman, Ryan Soares, Karmanya Ahuja, Karan Gour, and Ananya Mody advances the Naidu family’s saga with promise and engagement. Their screenplay, while boasting notable strengths, delivers a gripping season with constant action, though it falters in parts due to uneven writing. Vaibhav Vishal’s dialogues carry a bold, mass-appeal edge.
Directed by Karan Anshuman, Suparn S Varma, and Abhay Chopra, the show maintains a solid execution. Unlike the previous season, where the family (except the father) was united, here, their opposition to Rana sparks compelling conflict. The contrasting characters of Rauf and Viraj, both tormenting Rana in distinct yet equally intense ways, add depth to the storyline. The show’s core strength remains Rana’s complex love-hate dynamics with his father and wife. The season kicks off dramatically, with its non-linear storytelling keeping viewers intrigued. Standout moments include Viraj discovering Rana’s stake in the cricket company, Nitya (Afrah Sayed) witnessing brutal killings, the Goa episode, and Naga and Tej’s robbery attempt. The finale ramps up the tension effectively.
However, the writing occasionally relies on convenient plot devices, leaving unanswered questions. Rana’s departure from OB lacks convincing buildup, feeling rushed. The rivalry between Rauf and Rana could have been better developed. A stylized sequence showing Naga’s escape from Koliwada alongside Jaffa riding a woman’s bicycle falls flat. Jaffa’s wedding to Tasneem (Aditi Shetty) raises eyebrows, as her family is conspicuously absent despite the show’s emphasis on familial ties. Tasneem’s mentions of her ancestral home in Satara hint at a prominent background, but this is never explored. For a team of expert “fixers,” Rana and his crew’s oversight in leaving blood stains on a sword feels implausible. Additionally, some characters are underdeveloped, and the abrupt disappearance of a key figure is jarring.
