Pravinkoodu Shappu 2025 Movie Review

The story kicks off with the murder of Komban Babu (Shivajith), the notorious toddy shop owner, found hanging after a rainy night where 11 patrons stayed behind, drinking and playing cards. SI Santhosh (Basil Joseph), a quirky, deductive cop, investigates, unraveling secrets among suspects like shop worker Kannan (Soubin Shahir) and ex-CRPF officer Suni (Chemban Vinod Jose). The film explores deception, hidden motives, and village dynamics, aiming for an Agatha Christie-esque whodunit with a rustic twist. However, its nonlinear narrative and uneven focus dilute the suspense.

Basil Joseph shines as Santhosh, balancing comedic flair with investigative grit, though his arc feels disjointed in the second half. Soubin Shahir delivers a nuanced Kannan, carrying emotional and physical vulnerability effectively. Chemban Vinod Jose and Chandini Sreedharan (as Merinda) add depth, but some supporting roles, like Chandini’s, are underutilized despite strong moments. The ensemble’s chemistry keeps scenes lively, even when the script falters.
