Housefull 5 Movie 2025 Review
The story of Housefull 5 unfolds on a lavish cruise ship owned by none other than Ranjeet’s character, Ranjit. Just before celebrating his 100th birthday, he dies of a heart attack—but not before naming his firstborn, Jolly, as the heir to his 69-billion-pound fortune. The twist? No one knows who Jolly actually is—or even what he looks like. Enter three claimants: Julius (Akshay Kumar), Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), and Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan), each insisting they’re the real Jolly. What follows is a chaotic hunt—not just for the elusive heir, but also for a murderer who strikes aboard the cruise.
Amidst the confusion, a host of suspicious characters comes into play: the ship’s captain, the board of directors, and Ranjit’s lawyer—any of whom could be the killer. With tension mounting and absurdity in full swing, time is ticking to uncover the truth before the murderer strikes again.
At first glance, Housefull 5 promises all the ingredients of a crowd-pleasing entertainer: big stars, glossy visuals, exotic locations, and a splash of murder-mystery. But while it might work for fans of loud, over-the-top comedy, this film isn’t for everyone. The humour relies heavily on cringe-worthy gags—men ogling women, animals being assaulted for laughs, and tone-deaf jokes that feel outdated in today’s world.
The biggest issue? Audiences have moved on. With access to smart global comedies and well-crafted satire, viewers today recognize that truly funny moments often come from real, relatable situations—not forced chaos drenched in glitter and slapstick. Housefull 5, overloaded with glamour, fails to land its laughs because it feels more like a circus than a comedy.
Akshay Kumar gives it his all, diving headfirst into the slapstick he’s known for. But the magic that once made him shine in films like Welcome or Singh is Kinng feels diluted. He tries hard to anchor the madness, but even his effort can’t compensate for the lack of solid writing.
Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh do their bit to fuel the confusion and bring in some comic energy, but they’re let down by the same problem: the humour is just not there. What could’ve been a fun, madcap comedy is brought down by recycled jokes, reused scenarios, and characters we’ve seen too many times in the franchise already.
In the end, the biggest villain of Housefull 5 isn’t on the cruise—it’s the absence of good comedy. And that, ironically, is what kills the joy of what should’ve been a wild, entertaining ride.
