Criminal Justice A Family Matter 2025 Web Series Review

The fourth season of Criminal Justice, subtitled A Family Matter, sticks to the franchise’s tried-and-true formula, driven by Pankaj Tripathi’s magnetic performance, while exploring new themes of family trauma, mental health, and the elusive nature of truth. Directed by Rohan Sippy and written by Harman Wadala, Sandeep Jain, and Sameer Mishra, this eight-episode courtroom drama captivates despite occasional flaws.

The story begins with the brutal death of Roshini Saluja (Asha Negi), discovered bloodied in the arms of Dr. Raj Nagpal (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), who is swiftly accused of her murder. Roshini, caretaker to Raj’s neurodivergent daughter Ira (Khushi Bhardwaj), was also his lover. Raj’s estranged wife, Anju (Surveen Chawla), believes in his innocence and enlists Madhav Mishra (Tripathi), the relatable yet brilliant lawyer, to defend him.

The narrative splits into two threads: one exploring Raj’s tangled personal relationships, the other highlighting the challenges of parenting a child with Asperger’s. These elements add emotional depth to the legal drama, though the pacing falters at times.

Tripathi shines as Madhav Mishra, infusing sharp wit and empathy into courtroom scenes, making them engaging. His line, “Hum wahi karenge jo humara kaam hai — defence,” captures his steadfast dedication. His rapport with assistants (Barkha Singh and Aatm Prakash Mishra) brings warmth and humor, while Khushboo Atre, as Madhav’s wife, offers both comic relief and surprising strength in the legal fight.
