Chhorii 2 2025 Movie Review

Set seven years after the first film, Chhorii 2 follows Sakshi (Nushrratt Bharuccha), now a single mother and teacher, raising her daughter Ishani (Hardika Sharma), who has a rare condition causing her skin to burn in sunlight. Living with Inspector Samar (Gashmeer Mahajani) and Rani Ma (Pallavi Ajay), Sakshi’s fragile peace shatters when Ishani is kidnapped by villagers from the cursed hamlet she fled, led by the enigmatic Daasi Maa (Soha Ali Khan). Sakshi returns to confront ancient evils, navigating an underground maze tied to rituals sacrificing girls. The film tackles misogyny, blind faith, and child marriage, but critics argue its social message overshadows horror, making it feel preachy and derivative. A scene with young boys bullying a girl and a transgender child underscores toxic masculinity, though some find it heavy-handed.

Supporting Cast: Saurabh Goyal (Rajbir), Kuldeep Sareen, and Pallavi Ajay add menace but are overshadowed by the leads. Mukul Shrivastava’s Pradhan Ji is suitably eerie.

Nushrratt Bharuccha (Sakshi): Bharuccha delivers a fierce, emotionally charged performance as a mother fighting for her child. Fans on social media call her the “soul” of the franchise, nailing rage and pain, though critics note her role retreads familiar ground from Chhorii. Her physicality in intense scenes impresses, but the script limits fresh nuances.

Soha Ali Khan (Daasi Maa): Khan’s comeback is a highlight, bringing chilling authority to the shape-shifting priestess. Her haunting presence and subtle remorse earn praise, with reviewers like Amar Ujala calling her “dazzling.” Some feel her character deserved more depth beyond the villainous archetype.

Hardika Sharma (Ishani): The young actress shines, balancing vulnerability and maturity, though her sing-song delivery occasionally jars.

Gashmeer Mahajani (Samar): Mahajani’s cop role underwhelms due to limited screen time, despite fan praise for his sincerity and chemistry with Bharuccha.
