The first collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and director Arumugakumar, Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren, sharply divided audiences—some embraced its eccentric style, while others rejected it entirely, with little middle ground. Their second project, Ace, arrived with tempered expectations, leaving audiences wondering if the duo could deliver a more universally appealing story this time.
Vijay Sethupathi stars as Bold Kannan, a mysterious figure eager to escape his criminal past and begin anew. His only tie to his former life is a final phone call to jailed associates. Relocating to Malaysia, he forms a bond with Arivu (Yogi Babu), a rag picker posing as a businessman to win over Kalpana (Divya Pillai), a hotel owner. Meanwhile, Rukku (Rukmini Vasanth), a woman working odd jobs while grappling with memories of an abusive past with Rajadurai (Babloo Prithviraj), enters the story. After initially mistaking Bold Kannan for a thief, Rukku gradually trusts him.
