Son of Sardaar 2 Movie 2025 Reviews
“If the original Son of Sardaar leaned on rustic humor, high-octane action, and quintessential desi charm, its sequel swaps these for Indo-Pak jibes, clumsy romance, and an odd push for dance as art. But does this mix of comedy and social commentary deliver? Can Jassi still captivate us? Is there enough here to hook family audiences?
Under Vijay Kumar Arora’s direction, the film wrestles with blending slapstick and social messages but stumbles with a tangled storyline. The supporting cast shoulders much of the load, while the leads falter. Jassi, now in Scotland, is slapped with a divorce notice from his wife. Meanwhile, Rabiya, deserted by her husband (Chunky Panday), raises a family of four. Their meet-cute fizzles, lacking any real spark.
Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s pairing feels strained, their scenes devoid of warmth or authenticity. At 56, Devgn romancing 33-year-old Thakur isn’t jarring visually but saps credibility from their bond. A near-kiss moment between them lands as neither romantic nor funny—just cringe-inducing.
The supporting cast saves the day. Ravi Kishan, as the Pakistan-bashing businessman-turned-gangster Raja, steals the show with razor-sharp comic timing and the film’s best lines, injecting vitality into every scene. Deepak Dobriyal, portraying a transgender woman, brings unexpected nuance, while Sanjay Mishra’s UP-Bihar swagger as a Scottish gangster adds flair. Together, they lift the film’s uneven emotional and comedic pulse.
The film’s portrayal of Pakistan is a mixed bag. It offers token respect to Pakistani characters but leans heavily on stereotypes, with ‘bomb-dropping’ gags painting the nation as a hub of terrorism and cowardice. A scene where Jassi boasts about India’s war victories over Pakistan is amusing but overblown.
Humor, outside the climax, is inconsistent. The second half lands more laughs than the sluggish first, but the journey feels labored. Some jokes hit, others feel forced or out of place.”
