Padakkalam 2025 Movie Review

The plot follows four comic book-obsessed engineering students—Jithin (Sandeep Pradeep), Ramzad (Arun Pradeep), Kannan (Saaf), and Nakul (Arun Ajikumar)—who uncover a magical Pachisi board used by their scheming professor Ranjith (Sharaf U Dheen) to manipulate another professor, Shaji (Suraj Venjaramoodu), amid a college strike. The students’ attempt to intervene spirals into a comedic supernatural mess involving body-swapping and black magic. At 2 hours and 3 minutes, the film keeps a brisk pace, but the screenplay falters with uneven writing, convenient plot devices, and a rushed resolution. The mix of campus humor, fantasy, and mild thriller elements is fresh, but the narrative lacks depth, especially in its second half.

Sharaf U Dheen steals the show as the charismatic yet sinister Ranjith, balancing charm and menace. Suraj Venjaramoodu shines in dual roles as Shaji and another avatar, showcasing his comedic and dramatic range. Sandeep Pradeep holds his own as the shy Jithin, though his arc feels predictable. The supporting cast, including Saaf and Arun Ajikumar, delivers solid laughs, but female characters like Jeevika (Niranjana Anoop) and Shobha (Pooja Mohanraj) are underutilized, reduced to plot catalysts.
